Change Of Venue

Hello!

This is to explain what’s happening to the blog here. You may have noticed that the blog posts are getting older instead of newer. Why is that? Well, it’s really very simple: we are moving! We have just started up the same blog – well, almost identical – at http://IDontWantToGetOld.com – that’s a lot easier to get to, right? We hope to see you there soon? Manny is already there! :-D

The reason you see the articles “disappearing” is that we don’t want to have duplicate content on the two sites, so when we install it there, we take it off here – that’s why the posts are going away. It maybe doesn’t make much sense to you, but it’s a question of search engine optimisation – SEO – that should help us find more viewers.

Come see us at the new address? http://IDontWantToGetOld.com

We’ll be looking for you!

Apologies

Posted by admin on Jul 30, 2009 in General

Apologies

Hello again!

Well, apologies are in order – we try to post at least five times per week, and this week has been a small disaster. I had a problem with my laptop that kept me off-line for more than 60 hours. A little bit of that belongs to my ISP, but most of it is my fault.

In any case, I’m back on, but it appears that the traffic from where I am to the Internet is dreadfully high right now – I suppose all the Italian children who are not on vacation are inside on the Internet with our many days of 35°C (that’s about 95°F) weather with no clouds. Actually, probably many of those who are on vacation are also on the Internet during the day, as well.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m located in central Italy, quite near the town of Foligno which claims to be the center of the world/universe/etc (it really is the geographical centre of Italy), in the countryside, and my only two possibilities for high-speed Internet are (1) satellite, which turns out to cost around €100 per month when you add in the required ISDN telephone costs, and (2) a microwave link to a provider about 10 km (6+ miles) away, but (for us) with a good line-of-sight connection. This costs from €30 (US$ 50) per month up, depending on the degree of speed and money you want to balance out. You can probably guess which one I chose. Sometimes they have deliverability problems – like nasty things like lightning strikes, flooded (flat) roof where all their antennas are, etc. But this time, they say that it was “global problems on their network” – whatever that might be (just got an sms from them as I was writing this). Anyway, everything should be back to normal now, they say. So maybe I can play catch-up?

Again, sorry about the slowdown. I can’t say it won’t happen again (because it probably will), but it was not intentional.

Thanks for looking in,

Jimmy Craig

Twelve New Websites for You!

Posted by admin on Jul 19, 2009 in General

New Websites for You!

Hi there!

We have been busy the past few days installing a number of health-related websites to go along with this blog and our “mother” blog at http://greenhomemegastore.com. You can see them blended in with the pre-existing ones on the list in the right side of the page. Rather than expect that you could go through the list and pick out the new ones, here’s a list:

We’re not finished, but it’s time to take a breather for a few hours, at least! :-D

Take a virtual stroll though the sites that are of interest to you. That’s what we put them on line for!

Thanks for looking in,

Maintaining Your Body Even as You Age

Posted by admin on Jul 15, 2009 in Exercise

Maintaining Your Body Even as You Age

Hi again!

As you grow older, you will notice changes in your mind and body. At this time, you are reminded to take charge and keep yourself active and in shape. Getting older is inevitable. It is something out of your control or else your body starts to lose the nutrients it requires. With age, your body loses the vitamins it needs to stay strong. Taking daily supplements is a good idea but you also need exercise to supplement your efforts.

Daily activities play a tremendous role because you will have the tendency to slow down. The slowness causes the bones to stiffen, thus the other parts will slow down as well. Try to keep the ability to function through a healthy regimen. Your exercise program can be done with a group to make it more fun (see Zumba! for the latest thing in group dance-exercise-aerobics). You will enjoy doing it with others so that you don’t eventually get lazy. The importance of exercise will help you lose weight and tone up.

When starting a new exercise program, you need to take it slow so you don’t overexert your muscles. The muscles will be tight, so you should really watch your pace. Always begin and end exercises with stretching. It takes time to see the full effects, but with enough patience, you will enjoy the benefits. Of course you should first consult a doctor before you get into anything strenuous. Your diet too plays a vital role in maintaining your body. Excess weight can cause many things to go wrong with your system.

Diabetes is the frontrunner when it comes to paying the price with excess weight and with overeating. Be sure to get the right amount of carbohydrates, fats, and, protein in your daily fare. Staying fit is the key to preventing problems. You want to keep those muscles flexible because these protect the bones. Moreover, when you exercise, you will be able to reach your ideal weight.

Facts show that as you start to age, your body fat increases to even more than 30%. That big amount can put a strain on your muscles, joints, and bones. When you lug around so much weight, you are bound to experience problems as a result. Contrary to what people believe, you do not automatically enter into a downward spiral of performance and appearance. But yes, physical degeneration accelerates when you have a negative outlook.

You have control over your aging process. You just need to work on it so that you are able to dramatically slow down your ticking clock. When you don’t care about appearance, you will lose muscle and gain fat. The loss weakens all body systems and organs along with the immune system, making you more susceptible to life threatening diseases. And if left unattended, muscle tissue loss accelerates when you go past the age of 50, leaving in its wake weakness and disability.

The thing is, it doesn’t have to be like that at all. A proper exercise program with strength training is not some frivolous pastime. This is a form of preventative medicine that makes you enjoy your health for as long as you can. Your body was meant to move, and if you work on what were you were always meant to do, you can have a body that runs like a well-oiled machine. Your general health is your own responsibility, and it’s time to take that first step on your own path to being the best you.

Anti-Aging Wrinkle Creams

Posted by admin on Jul 14, 2009 in Pharmaceuticals etc.

Anti-Aging Wrinkle Creams

Hello again,

When it comes to anti-aging, prevention is definitely better than the cure. But even if you already look older than you did last year, your efforts will not be futile. There is still hope as long as equip yourself with the right knowledge.

You really need to avoid the trap of collagen-based wrinkle cream. You need to safeguard yourself from the huge marketing hype going on in the industry. They show the “before” and “after” pictures of women and make you think that the product can do miracles on your skin. They use words such as collagen and elastin, and then make you think that these two are the solutions for your dilemma. As you age, your collagen and elastin levels start to drop. So, it seems to make sense to apply creams that have these two chemicals and just assume that your skin will automatically absorb them.

This assumption, of course, has no scientific explanation to back it up. First of all, the collagen molecule is too large to absorb. The uppermost layer of the skin rejects it, and it therefore cannot enter the deeper layers. Just ask your dermatologist and you’ll know what this means. Injecting collagen under the skin only has the effect of inserting a “pillow” of soft material – this does tend to remove wrinkles by filling out the skin, but you could achieve the same results with any soft, inert material (just as silicone implants enlarge the breast). In essence, anti-aging wrinkle creams do not help in preventing wrinkles at all. However, don’t lose hope because there are products out there that can help (read on! :-D ).

You will be happy to know that scientists have discovered natural substances that have the ability to stimulate the body’s own collagen production. They do wonders in preventing wrinkles, plus, the effects are nothing short of amazing because they will give you a firm, pliant, and elastic skin. These products do not add anything that is new to your system. In fact, it only enhances what you already have in the first place. Therefore, you won’t walk around looking like a wax figure from another time and place.

One such ingredient is called the Cynergy TK. It is an absorbable kerogen product that helps the skin’s collagen and elastin production, improves moisture retention, develops skin elasticity, and enhances cell regrowth.

There is also a Japanese sea kelp called wakame that performs just as well. When you go looking for wakame in the Internet, you will find that someone has done a good job of promoting a German company named PhytoEssence in Winnenden, Germany (near Stuttgart), which specialises in producing extra-high quality extracts of essential oils (Essence) from plants (Phyto). The company’s official name is Heinzmann & Albrecht GbR and you can find their website at http://www.phytoessence.com/english/index.html. Using essential oils is not the only way to imbibe wanake – it is a seaweed that the Japanese use for protection against skin aging, and it is available in a number of commercial food preparations.

Natural creams just work better because the ingredients are already found in your body. Of course, the most common of the products have Vitamin E in them. You just have to read up on the details carefully and consult your dermatologist to make sure that you won’t pay the price with the side effects. It is best to go through a government study online to get more information on the ingredients.

Specialists in ingredients of anti-aging supplements will tell you the facts that you should know. After all, if you are asked to pay a hefty amount of money, you might as well make sure that it is worth it. With so many new creams to choose from now, it is difficult to decide which one is the best to use. It is crucial to bear in mind that there is a wide variety of effective creams that treat an almost equally wide range of skin problems as well as numerous skin types. Know what works for you and study the package carefully so that it complements the other products you use on your face.
